Rodman Media’s platforms are recognized as the number one source of industry news and have a global reach of 140,000 readers in 120 countries, influencing industry professionals around the world.
The challenge, however, was to adequate this whole ecosystem of eleven platforms in different segments to a whole new reality. New features, new users, new sources of income. At scale.
So how to design eleven platforms in different sectors in the most stable, viable, and efficient way, considering the hability to publish content in different levels?
Scoping the project
Starting with by the most complex platform, we mapped out the entire ecosystem, which gave us a broader perspective. This helped us to:
- Understand the requirements and connections between different sections
- Identify common areas among the eleven platforms
- Create a better plan and estimate the time needed to execute the project
My Role
As a Design Lead, I worked daily with the Frontend and Backend teams, reported to the C level and had weekly calls with the stakeholders.
My responsibilities included understanding the requirements, maintaining consistency across the project, estimating the execution time, onboarding and assisting team members, reviewing deliverables, improving the process, and communicating with the client.
Solution
The next step was identifying the core product of this ecosystem.
Happi generates revenue through various means such as advertisements, partnerships, and others. The primary business, however, is the Buyer’s Guide. It’s a platform where sellers can visit and connect directly with buyers to make great deals. At scale.
As the core product, the Buyer’s Guide links different data sources across multiple levels and categories. A company listed on this platform can be found through its products, patents, specific segments, regions, content listed on the platform, among other things.
After almost 20 years working on this business, and 12 years running a design company, I learned that I was an obsolete professional and leader after just a few weeks working with Marcos. He made our entire company push it's boundaries a bit further and go to another level. That's how amazing this guy is. Would love to work with him again.
